They just weren't as vocal then because "their" guy was in office. It doesn't however take much looking around to see how crazy they have become. Look at any social media site, the commits on fox news, hell even the commits at CBS. The real change seemed to come from when they changed from "religious conservatives" whom were crazy, but at least somewhat held back by their "christian titles" and then to the Tea Party movement. The tea Party movement really amplified and brought the conservative hate to the forefront. They were no longer tied back by the religious pandering but full speed ahead to show how big of a asshole they could be. Everything suddenly became liberal this, socialist that.. racism came out in the open and so on..

It's just constant hate mongering all out in the open as there was no longer anything to hide. Obama getting elected was the catalyst as a black man in the oval office was the last straw..
