Man, I really haven't listened to the Dead for years until tonight, maybe since '97 or '98, and I must say that while the ease of access to all their shows on Youtube is awesome, it can be a bit overwhelming. I'm not sure what the good shows are anymore except for those two.

Remember trading tapes in the mail? Waiting and waiting to get what you had hoped would be a higher quality copy of one of your favorite shows but only to find out that it's worse than the one you already have!

I know the Winterland show is famous, but it makes me wonder if I mainly liked 5/8/77 because I had a high quality tape of it back in the day. Is it a famous show? Or was it just famous to me and my friends because we all had a high quality recording of it on tape?

Cornell is one of the most popular shows/tapes out there. Excellent high energy show. One of my first and favorite tapes.
I remember the agony of snail mail trading. I was once on a Dead chat and some kid was bitching about slow download speeds. All the old timers schooled him about what we used to go through to get hissy cassette tapes. It is great to have so much so easy these days.
