You may have the same condition that I do. It is called EDMD. The MD stands for muscular dystrophy. It is uncommon, but not rare.

The MD has weakened the connective tissue between the inner and outer membranes of my cornea, and when my eyes got dried out during sleep, my eyelids would scratch my corneas, resulting in double vision and decreased vision.

I went to my eye doctor. He gave me plain contact lenses to wear to let the corneas heal and recommended some good eye drops.

I went to an eye specialist and had my eyeballs mapped to confirm the condition. There is no cure, but if the scratching and scarring is too much, they can immobilize your eyeballs and buff them smooth again with a type of dremel tool.

I was pretty scared at first, wondering about diabetes, brain tumor, etc, but was pretty relieved to find out that it is EDMD.

Good luck, I hope this helps.
