Charbonneau I believe had a reputation as a pimp and was definitely a rapist with a bad rep for beating his wives. He had multiple wives that he purchased or won through gambling so I have always thought he probably was pimping her out on the trip although I think there is only one very oblique reference that insinuates it in the journals. However, I don't think Lewis or Clark was going to write back and say "thanks for paying us to bang Indian hookers on our camping trip"
