So many good ones out there.. I'm partial to the Islays, Lagavulin being one of my favourite.. but I don't mind some of the Bowmore bottlings. Nicest one I've had was a private bottling of a Caol Isla, 21 year I think. Really it depends on the style you like.. not much of a Highland malt fan, I find them a bit too mellow.
What I would do is check out something like this
Whisky Buying Guide, Whisky Reviews, Bourbon Reviews - Whisky Advocate search some of the reviews and see if the flavour profiles are something you appreciate in a Whisky. I generally ignore the rating they give though. Then you can cross reference the names with what your local beverage store carries.
Or you can find a local bar that does whisky tastings and it will be far more fun to "research" your next new bottle.
