but yeah, no, no buzz kill. we're on the same page, i certainly don't pony up to buy weed just because it's lab-tested, which is how i must have come across. and there are no weights and measures legals that require those tests to maintain certain standards so i'm with ya. i guess what i meant was based on buying weed that is lab-test from a dispensary i frequent, i've come to trust their advice on strains to get if my favorites are out.
so since indicas are easier to grow, do they tend to be more pure than sativas, since they are more difficult to grow?

LOL Tons of energy, rapid thinking, non-stop talking, etc. I kind of didn't like it because it reminded me of my old coke days (daze?). LOL
I find hydro and indoor plants pack the most punch and most of the stuff I smoked in Europe tasted/felt like outdoor grows. Who knows? Here in the States I basically ignore 'sativa'/'indica' and just go with this:
The lighter the color green - the closer to a light white/lime color - the stronger it kicks my ass. The darker green/brown it is the less I like it. And don't even get me started on the Purples....
Biggest issue? When I DO find a strain I adore - like Blue Dream - each crop is slightly different so it's hard to find that 'perfect' consistent product. Comes with the territory of being a plant, I suppose.

The color depends on several factors but picking "lighter green" is a good ticket to determining quality based on freshness. Generally, the fresher it is, no matter what it is in terms of sativa indica etc, the brighter it will be. You are right though, no two growers, even one grower growing from one clone mother, will produce that same Blue Dream or whatever strain every time. There is just too many environmental factors at play, light synthesis, co2, soil, hydration, absorption, etc.
The other thing about color is it has a lot to do with the cure. I miss the days of true Acapulco Gold - cured similar to cigar tobacco leaf.
Here is
a good link to understanding "purple" colored weed
