I do believe that this will take off but several problems if you are looking forward to VR Porn Right away.

1- Lack of proper camera equipment. VR is normally shot in 360 degree omnispheric video but for use in VR Porn, it could just be shot with a stereoscopic stack of gopro cameras and provide enough immersion to for-fill needed effercts. Just without head-tracking spherical video. While there are some 360 cameras out there, most are quite pricey of not up to the task or both. Samsung's project Beyond camera will make a nice 3d omni camera but no details on release. You don't really need omni camera for porn. hemi-spheric (180 deg) with head tracking would do the trick in a great way while allowing easier production.

2-To produce such a video is a bit tasking and editing and other technicals are just not the same as the old 2D world is use to. Someone will figure out a few different ways of doing it. Probably have to wait for hollywood to show us how ???

3-It does all start with hardware releases to the public. So far, we don't even have solid release date for anyone. Vive is set for fall 2015, Sony's set for spring/summer 2016, OSVR has not really said anything solid. And then there is Oculus that keeps sidestepping the question and backing out of earlier comments at this time but will see their partnership with Samsung yield several units for public consumption for mobile devices this year.

While there are a few providing content using what looks to be a pair of stereo gopros, it should provide enough content when consumer versions are out there. I just can't figure out why more are not opening the door to this opportunity to be in front of the hardware releases.

I'm sure by fall into winter 2015 most of this talk will be be fruiting. Everyone can have a use for VR. It does seem strange to me that porn is not driving this tech this time as it has all other display tech's of the past.

I will say that even a more recent 3d movie looks great on a oculus dk2 with less-than a 2k res. Most display's in these units will be capable at or near 4k VR. A little hard to stream. While you need higher res in VR, 2k will do it for these movies. I think Samsung's gear vr on a LTE smartphone will allow for it. The NBA will start to stream basketball games soon with multiple cameras so you can choose your seat.

A lot to look forward to.
I look forward to watching a few concerts this way.
