I will repeat one thing from my previous message; the idea is to get prey. That is why the whole bow and arrow were invented in the first place. Or the spear, or spear-thrower ("high tech"). Good luck trying to hunt with your bare hands.

Guns in hunting are just continuum for that; about from the year 1500 onwards.

In the old good "sporty" days, game were driven do death down to cliffs, to trap holes, traps were used extensively, birds were netted (flying), flighless birds were netted during molt, etc.

This whole sport hunting concept is not more than 100 years old, excluding kings and faraos.
