anything else you might suggest that would help? sometimes when he's walking along he just has to lay down. he's a tough guy though and doesn't reveal how much pain he's in.

How old is the dog? How much does he weigh? Swimming is
excellent for dogs with hip dysplasia. My dogs weigh between 80 - 100lbs and I give them 500mg capsule omega 3 fish oil once a day (I poke a pin and put on their food). I do this more for their coat and good skin but I know it helps repair joints.
Along with glucosamine and chrondrotin I would add MSM.
I know previcox works well for dogs, but I have only given it to my arthritic old horse and it worked WONDERS for about 3 years before I had to put him down on the other side of 25. Before that he was on some sort of gel that had hylaronic (sp) acid - I want to say it was called Quest and maybe they make that for dogs too. It has all of the things I mentioned in it aside from the omega 3 I think.
