Excellent point. These are people. At some point you have to put your trust into the airline and their background check processes. At some point, they will find out the hard way that they missed something. Like in this unfortunate situation. All they can do is learn from past mistakes.

In the end, if you disagree with their operations and don't trust them? Don't fly. Walk, ride a bike, take a boat.

People are unpredictable creatures in the end. There is no way, nor will there ever be a way around that. You can automate shit, but then you have the people that code the automation to worry about. It's a never ending cycle.

Trust or don't. The decision is up to you. Risk vs. Reward...
