Google has released a tool called Arc Welder. It allows Android apps run on any machine that can run Chrome browser. The tool acts as a wrapper around Android apps so they can run on Windows, OSX and Linux machines.

The software expands the places, Android apps can run and might make it easier for developers code to work on different machines. One developer said it's better to write apps running "natively" rather than on separate software.
