Big companies have been doing this for many years. I do still see them on cars in Chicago but not as hot today as it was years ago so fading out. There were a few legit companies and a handful of scam companies as well.
I do make sales from the thousands of daily stopped cars looking at my advertisement but not to the degree I thought it would generate so maybe others weren't seeing enough sales as well. All of my sales are in the xxx range though and since it was a one time cost to make the ad and my prime parking spot is free even if the conversion isn't as high as I hoped it doesn't cost me anything to continue to position my back window facing downtown stopped Chicago traffic so the ad I made has paid for itself many times over so now free advertising/sales continue to roll in. If you have a prime major city parking spot worth the cost to make your own ad as think I paid $150 for 2 signs. If you have to pay someone hundreds a month to run your ad might not see the return you were hoping for.
