I was talking about the record company owners. That used to be a giant industry. It's nothing like it once was.
And even when it was big...the biggest and smartest artists always started their own record companies and had one of the big boys distribute it. Led Zeppelin had "Swan Song" records. The Beatles had "Apple Records". The Rolling Stones created "Rolling Stones Records".
And today...a lot of artists aren't even bothering with "distribution" deals. They don't have to. They have ITunes to get to the people.
Now a record PRODUCER...that's an artist in his own right. And yeah, If you want JayZ to produce your album...he's gonna charge you a ton of money.
