Don?t read from a backlit device at night (such as an iPad). If you use a portable electronic device to read, use an eReader that is not backlit, i.e. one that requires an additional light source such as a bedside lamp.

Applies to computer too. It is also easier for your eyes if you adjust the light of the screen to match the surroundings. It takes some practice to remember to do so, but I have slowly got grasp to it. I use three preset settings in my Samsung monitor: game (for day), internet (for clowdy day/ afternoon) and text (for night).
