I see more harm in the concept of "channels" then in "friendships". Ideal would be that a "friend" gets noticed about the new video, without having acces to a complete channel where they can find all videos uploaded...

Ideal would be they would have to search for the rest and at best to "favorite" per video in order for them to find it back.

Anyway... since there are channels... "friendship" is A way to keep connected to them in one way or another...
