Until you get the money out from top to bottom in politics, there will always be this system without a doubt. Its just to hard for regular people to run against an incumbent, when the money is out there to influence everything.
Should be public funding limits set per candidate, per level of government, and that's it. Do your best, and win. With social media its easier than ever to get your message out to your constituents.
Businesses can still lobby, as we well as citizens, but the only influence they should have is their vote. The tricky part is how you handle situations where they get the wink and nod, and after they retire, they end up with plush jobs with those companies as their payback for the help.
