My father actually held half the patent rights to this piece of farm equipment called "The Ducknester"
In fact that photo may have been taken on our land. I know my mom took some better pictures of the prototyping and testing but I haven't seen them in decades.
He came up with the idea and worked with a local welding shop owner to perfect it and they shared the patent.
But before they got going making sales the welding shop owner vanished, nobody ever heard from him again, the guy didn't have any family and we couldn't have him declared dead until after the patent ran out or something so now it's in public domain.
Irrigation methods have been changing and very few farmers still row-irrigate using ditches, but I spent many an hour as a kid running that damn thing.
