USA is not Rome - we're lucky if we get to be the Hittites. Rome was the one 1000 year power; half of the shit done today comes from it.
It was also filled with slaves.
Maybe democracies and republics don't last, who knows? Kingship appears, in some cases to last longer, but every third king (at best) people suffer, even in stable empires. Socialist die in 30-50 years, totally unstable and easily turns into state terror and torture / mass execution. Greece, US, pre-empire Rome, max 300 years.
