The way I see it is this: They are probably already nervous every time they have to stop someone. They don't know if the guy might pull out a gun. So when I've been stopped, I completely relax, keep my hand on the wheel, tell the truth, etc. When asked for my license & registration, I let them know its in my wallet and in my pocket, then reach for it afterwards, etc. The more you can help a copy relax and let them know you're not an idiot, the better they feel and the nicer they are to you.

I ride my motorcycle 90% of the time. I have long hair, dress kind of ratty, have straight pipes that are to loud for most states, ride mostly in southern states.
Being pulled over an average of 1-3 times a year for 30 years is a lot more face to face cop time than most will ever enjoy. Being non threatening and courteous has limited the negatives to a few traffic tickets and equipment fines. Any one of those times I could have been a dick and escalated the situation. But why? To prove a point or be a bad-ass?
Fuck that, kiss ass say yess Sir and down the road laugh about the coke/pot he didn't look for or the breath test that wasn't taken. Anyone who provokes a cop gets what they deserve.
Around here that attitude makes me a cop lover, lol lol lol Go figure huh.
