My uncle passed away last year but he had one of the largest fish farms here in the state of FL. Grows sturgeon and talapia. If I were to do some off grid thing, I'd do one of those hydroponic greenhouses which you circulate the water into the fish growing tanks.
You can grow the talapia fish pretty easy and use their water to run a hydro growing green house which you never have to fertilize. You get fish meat and all the green stuff out of one system.
