I don't live there, I was in Texas about month last year while road tripping and traveled around central Texas quite a bit. There were lakes and dried up river beds like this all over. The other issue which was really bad in Texas more than anywhere else was the algae in the lakes & rivers. Un-regulated fertilizer usage for farming and people's yards has changed the chemistry of the water and it's causing massive algae blooms, which kills fish and other critters which live in the rivers & lakes.. (we have the same issue in FL as well) People seriously need to wake the fuck up and stop fertilizing their shitty lawns.. It's destroying our lakes & rivers.

Colorado was no where near as bad and it rained a decent amount while I was there but I don't think it rained one time the month I was in Texas.
