To clarify, my point was more in the sense of American Idol auditions where they have a kid that can't sing... but has been told by his goofy twat of a mother that he's the best singer ever since infancy.
When the judges stop him and inform him that he has zero singing ability whatsoever, he becomes confused and then angry and then starts ranting and raving that the judges don't know what they are talking about. His personal sense of self and understanding of himself will never line up with the perceptions of others and his life until he accepts that he can't sing and isn't awesome will be nothing but pain where there should simply be support for hard work, instead of a lie.
This girl and those like her are being set up for failure in the same exact way and the inevitable end result will be a lot of pain, confusion and anger... where they should be taught (as anyone should) to stand up and confront the truth as it is and deal with it,... not to create a fake, alternative reality and try to live in it.
