The person driving the car was trying to demonstrate an auto-braking feature by purposely accelerating the car at full speed toward some standing humans, but didn't know that specific car didn't have that feature. That's like trying to demonstrate a gun's safety mechanism by pointing it at a crowd of people and pulling the trigger, except -- whoops -- this gun doesn't have the safety feature you thought it did.
What you're seeing is idiotic behavior by the person in the driver's seat, trying to look impressive by slamming on the gas with the car pointed at human beings. That doesn't sound like Volvo's fault.
