when I stayed there, i stayed with a friends family. they told us a lot about their struggles, how they ate banana peels in the early 90ties, showed us their book with their food rations and how they bought for us - their guests - toilet paper that costs $2 a roll while they make like $25 a month per person.
whoever advocates the Cubans should just keep going like this, is an idiot.
on the other hand I hope they are able to go their way and don't get their culture destroyed by us (as in: we, not USA) capitalists asshats within 5 years (something that is potentially possible).
