I would rather say: it was fueling the war and escalating possible conflict ( by sending specops guys to the east, that got quite easy task to fuel the conflict. east is connected to Russia, West not. East was supporting commies during WW2, west - fascists. east speaks Russian, west prefers ukrainian. EAST VOTED YANUKOVICH and he was LEGALLY ELECTED president for WHOLE COUNTRY, while west VIOLENTLY OVERTHROWED HIM...->>>>so who really started the conflict, hah... ? ) to protect Russian interests (at least how Putin and other high guys see them)...what happened later is sad case for people that live there. unfortunately, Putin and Poroshenko dont give a fuck about them and just send blood thirsty mercenaries to fight and destroy.
