Last year, over 1,500 people were murdered merely for being trans. That is more than 4 people killed every day because someone else was offended by them. That alone is enough reason for anyone to be public about their transition. Awareness ultimately brings acceptance.
I know a few people previously ignorant and transphobic, who now look at it in a new and more positive light. Caitlyn Jenner is wholly responsible for that change.
It is natural that someone who already had the spotlight on them would want to bring awareness. Caitlyn Jenner is no different than Laverne Cox, but I've never heard similar comments made about her; they're both advocates due to already being well-known. Just because she's part of a celebrity family with a reality TV show, does not mean that Caitlyn's family does not sometimes deal with major and very real things. All families do. Some just happen to be on TV.
The sooner more people accept it, the sooner people like MiamiBoyz above will finally be able to admit their own feelings.
