They wanted to make a cross platform OS with Win 8 but forgot that there are actually people who use computers for WORK and do not have touch screens. Win 8 was too touch screen heavy and not enough desktop/mouse friendly.
With 10 they have worked to merge the OS to be more adaptive to different devices and not forgotten the user who needs a mouse for doing real work with their OS.

yeah, I thought they were a little premature with thinking that everyone just likes to swipe screens. Like you said, there are people out there who do actual work and aren't on social media or playing app games all day.
But on my Surface Pro I have Win 8, and it was more tolerable by using Classic Shell, which essentially makes it behave exactly like Win7. There's still the option of using the gay Windows 8 bullshit by clicking a button.
