I don't like cops in general. There's one in our family who really is Nazi-like. Sad. I am a former NYC taxi owner/driver. NYC cops LOVE to pull over taxi drivers. I always handled being pulled over the same way.

1. I would shut off the car on put the keys ob the dashboard
2. I would keep both of my hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 until instructed to give them my hack license, drivers license, insurance & registration.
3. I would only answer "yes, officer" or "no, officer" to any questions.
4. If I was to be given a summons I would say nothing - and let the cop do the talking.
5. I would receive the summons, start the car, pull away and find the nearest legal parking space.
6. I would document what had just happened, including taking photographs at the scene of the alleged infraction.
7. I would delay the case the three times as allowed under the rules.
8. When the court date actually came 2-3 years later (and past the 18 months of possibly getting a points violation), I would show up with my evidence in a powerpoint presentation. On 11 tickets, all but one were won by either default or evidence.

Recap: If you have the misfortune of being in contact with the police, say nothing or do nothing inflammatory. Get your justice on the back end. And if you have the opportunity: WALK AWAY, ESPECIALLY IF BEING DIRECTED TO DO SO. FILE A LAWSUIT LATER IF JUSTIFIED.
