I didn't say "grandmasters aren't smart".
Chess champions are skilled after many 1000's of hours of practice at recognizing basic chess patterns. "Intelligence" has nothing to do with it. It takes work. Not "innate talent" or "genius"
Further, there are tons of memory studies with chess champions against normal people... when they've looked at a chess board for 5 seconds with pieces arranged in any pattern which can happen in a match, they can typically recreate it with 100% accuracy. When you place the pieces in a manner which does not make "chess sense", they will not do any better than any random person. It's simply practice and memorizing patterns through 10's of 1000's of hours of practice, not "genius".
"Genius" and "Talent" are greatly misunderstood and misapplied concepts.
Waste your own time and disappoint yourself by looking up the facts. Your ignorance on the topic of the human brain, mental and physical performance is not my problem.
