I'm not so sure about that one... it's an interesting argument however I'm sure the blacks don't identify as 'southern' or of being a part of 'southern culture' ....
I would say that the St Andrews cross is more a representation or statement of agrarian vrs industrial societies if anything....
and if you listen to country music, southern culture is defined by family, god and service to country as well as being a good ole boy or in general, a fuck head drunk, which goes back to Celtic culture....
