You completely missed my point.
One of three Americans own firearms, but how many of them are responsible? The more firearms we pour into society, the more firearms end up in the hands of criminals. Gun lovers say "We need firearms to protect ourselves" without understanding that a percentage of these firearms end up in the hands of criminals.
All we are doing is fueling the fire - more legally purchased firearms means more firearms into the hands of criminals.
I've told this story before here on GFY.... When my father died he had two hand guns. I remember them growing up, was taught to never touch them, and that they would be mine when I was an adult. Years later.... No one in my family knows what happened to them. My mother and father got divorced, the house got sold, yet no one knows what happened to the firearms. Someone has them somewhere.
