Well said. Also, do not allow entry or exit alert boxes on pops, if a user wants to close it, they should be able to do so by clicking your browser X, they clearly meant to close it so don't prompt them with a crappy box saying "Are you sure you wanna move away from this page, you could be fucking Chloe in 7 minutes" I mean really?
Pops are popular ad units when ad networks manage them properly. Frequency cap them so if your user comes back later, he doesn't get it again. Don't bug the shit out of your surfers
