i want to agree and would tend to agree. the glaring problem is that it's a fact that flag's symbolism was co-opted by white supremacists and others like them beginning in the 1950s. It's not incorrect to see that flag as a symbolism for hate not pride, based on its history.
I can't help but consider that history in understanding why the elected officials of South Carolina decided it's best not to fly that flag on government property over a Civil war monument, which is staying.
