I was under the impression people's view of the flag are split ~50-50. nevertheless, it's telling to me that the monument remains. there is no controversy surrounding respectful remembrance of the Confederacy. but since there is with the flag, it seems prudence is the best thing.
for me, the monument remaining is proof that this is about that State not being a part of controversy. I can understand and appreciate that. not saying you should agree. but folk's rights to that flag are still intact and people can and should still fly that flag if they want.
