I do SEO not Adwords so take what I say with a pinch of salt but I do see a lot of Adwords campaigns. The best campaigns I've seen started with a massive splurge in week one and then sitting down at the end of the week and figuring which keywords/ads/countries/landing pages etc worked best and sinking everything you have into those in the months and years ahead. You lose a lot of money in that first week but make it up in the months and years ahead.

Thanks so much for this! I was actually thinking of doing exactly what you wrote a little while ago but you articulated it perfectly!
And I don't mind losing money for a week or 2-3 but to not see profitablity (or even return on intial cost) for months is tough to sustain. You're the first person who mentioned a week's time frame and I like that much better.

We spend well in the 7 figures with them until last August when they pulled that no hardcore/adult content stunt. Even blocking our softcore zero sex/porn mention tour.

I was surprised they approved my Ads in the first place. But I am going for 'erotic' and 'sensual lovers' and 'sex education', things like that rather than hardcore terms. But what you said about the softcore side of things worries me....maybe those sites got penalized because they were connected (via your company) to the hardcore sites?
