No they don't want to kill them, they want them alive until it's time to eat.
The other dog in the video was poisoned a few months later. They threw poisoned chicken over the gate. When they poison a dog they can't eat it. It usually means they are coming back to rob your house that night. She was dead within 5 minutes.
