I'll say this...if I were a soldier and actually had vital info (which young McCain didn't have by the way), I would do my best to not talk.
BUT... the minute they pull my balls out of my pants and get ready to cut them off? I'm gonna sing like a bird.
So kudos to McCain for taking all the punishment he did. I feel sorry for him.
But he's not a hero nor did he have any great intel to give to his captors. He got tortured simply because of who his father was.
