Well done HD porn is way more attention-grabbing than SD porn--problem is a lot of HD productions, particularly early on, were lit and shot the same way as SD porn and so added little value.
3-4 years ago there was a bunch of hype about 3D porn, and some programs rushed to put up lame anaglyph 3D sites that were mostly laughably bad. I started a WEHT 3D porn thread here over a year ago, and from the posts there the consensus seemed to be "meh".
IMHO, VR porn and VR combined with teledildonics will be the Next Big Thing, though it will take some years for the full potential of the technology to be realized.
