Without Cecil, his offsprings are in real danger and will likely be killed by rival lions. What a sad, sad cycle of pain and suffering.

I was going to begin this with, "You do realize ...." but then I quickly realized you didn't. Hunting with a bow takes significantly more skill than using a rifle, and I can assure you, no hunter wants to track blood splatter for two days.
Once they caught up to him they put him out of his misery with a rifle.
