In my early working life back in the 80's I had occasion to meet a lot of the wrestlers; Hogan, Blackwell, the Baron (claw guy), Ken Patera, Jesse Ventura, Nick Bockwinkle, Bobby The Brain Heenan, the Sheik, and tons of others. But Piper, the one actual former Winnipegger, was one I wish I had've. Few could create drama both in and out of the ring like he could.

George Toombs (Aka; Rowdy Roddy Piper) was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 17, 1954 and was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was of majority Scottish descent, with some Irish on his mother's side. He attended Windsor Park Collegiate.
By the age of 15, he made his professional wrestling debut in Winnipeg against Larry "The Axe" Hennig.
