I have no doubt both the UK and US and other countries have forces on the ground in the area. They are most likely assisting if not engaged in active combat. However, their real role is going to be intelligence.
Of course some people will up in arms asking why the US or UK has military there "covertly". I can list a few reasons off the top of my head such as "What would we do if one of our planes get shots down and we have to rescue a pilot?". Also, in the event we do need boots on the ground for a specific mission we could have people on the scene in hours instead of days.
