I would suggest putting up some small hidden cameras that face the door they came in, etc. When they come back they will get caught on camera. They have some that come on/start taping when motion is detected. That way it is not taping the entire time.

I had a break in about a year ago, nothing was taken. They came in the back garage door and the alarm was going off (about midnight). They then opened the kitchen door going out into the garage. My 6 year old son ran into our room after the alarm woke him up and said he heard someone in the garage talking. Basically they were seeing if someone would get up, etc. I was too busy running to get my gun out of the lock box and get a flashlight, by the time my son came in. They took off. The cops were there within a few minutes and got some foot prints, finger prints.

Now I even keep the alarm on my car while its in the garage, I also installed a few more locks on the back door, I installed another lock on the door going into the garage from the kitchen and lock it nightly.

Good thing for the alarm or thing's could have been alot worse.

Good luck with getting everything take care of, and definitely use it as a learning experience.
Get one of these.

I have a friend with a couple of kids in the house so he bought this to keep his pistol in so the kids couldn't get to it but he could still get to it quickly if necessary. It's awesome. You can enter the combo in total darkness and the pistol just falls right into your hand.
