About those reflectors; in our army we use "laser guns" in training (attachments to regular guns up to tank weaponry and tanks). Regular soldier kit includes addon to be strapped around helmet and another one for center body mass. Those kits have round plastic receivers those reflect a bit. Though that was when I was in the army, the kit probably has improved a little bit.
I don't know is that the case in here or not, but we had kit like that for training. It is very superb by the way. You fire blanks, but the laser hits the target (if hits). Hard to get more realism in terms of shooting and getting shot, you know; safely. The laser gets fired when you fire the blanks.

No they were just basic reflectors. The excuse given for having them? To avoid friendly fire

Except they put a giant glowing target for their troops
