Earlier today I watched a video where a police officer (in Ohio?) spent ten minutes try to save a truck driver who went off the road, doing CPR while yelling "don't die on me" while waiting for the medics. Police officers are heroes.

All lives matter.
There are some police that have distinguished themselves by performing a heroic act. I wouldn't go so far to generalize them by saying "police officers are heroes". They are paid (handsomely) and in turn expected to serve.

There are heroes from all walks of life - many of which are not monetarily compensated in exchange for their act of heroism. To me, a hero is someone who is selfless - isn't obligated or unexpectedly puts their life on the line for someone else - or goes above and beyond the call of duty to do something brave or noble.
