Hostgator was viable but then they sold out to venture capital and has gone downhill from there.

Do yourself a favor and select a host which still cares, I for one recommend Amerinoc been hosting with them since 2009 and still very happy.

For registering domains, Namecheap is easy and has acceptable prices.
