I loved the mk iii. But I made the switch back in Feb.
These new model cameras like the nx1 and the URSA are completely different animals.
The Canon MKiii performed in almost every way like a "real" film camera.
But the nx1 is like a small computer. It is just incredible to work with.
And from all the research I read on the URSA it's like that as well.
At first I tried to use my NX1 the same way as I did my Canon. In other words I tried to set up a very flat profile and then take it into post for intense color grading.
But what I found out very quickly was...that is no longer needed. Matter of fact, shooting flat with my NX1 is the exact wrong thing to do.
I tried shooting flat the first couple of scenes I shot with it because I was thinking traditional shooting methods.
But the camera itself produces such incredibly beautiful colors and contrast that I abandoned that.
Now I shoot it with no profile at all. Just letting the camera do it's thing. And then in post, I use Magic Bullet Colorista, Cosmo, and Mojo to give it that extra icing on the cake and a "cinema" look.
Loving it!
Post up a small vid shot with the URSA when you get comfortable with it. I'd love to see.
