I have said for a long time that when it comes election time people look around at their life and take inventory. If they have a good job and they feel they are secure in that job and they have a decent place to live, their kids are doing fine and overall their life is pretty good, they don't want change and they will likely vote for the person that will keep it the same or only change things they want. If they aren't doing well they will vote for the person who will at least promise to the help them the most. Right now the economic situation in this country is not good. Most of the new jobs that are being created are low paying service and retail jobs and a lot of people are underemployed. They see a billionaire who knows how to make money telling them he will bring the good jobs back and it resonates.
