Ok, imagine situation. Dude starts shouting racial slurs and shoots people of opposite race. Then shoots himself.
We (most of us) would acknowledge that this was a hate crime. You, on the other hand, would come in and say - hey, wait, perp is dead, government did not charge him, so we can not acknowledge.
We agree to disagree on this.
