Gary Johnson, Robbie's favorite libertarian was voted into office as New Mexico's Govenor as a Republican.. Ron Paul and Rand Paul both claimed to be libertarians but ran as Republicans.. I don't think there is a single libertarian in congress which is not elected as a Republican..
Also the demographics of libertarians has changed a lot in recent years, as it because the go to party for embarrassed Republicans after Obama was elected a second time..
Prior to this most "independents" leaned to the left and stats backed that up, due to there not being a "liberal" party. However after Obama's second win, Republicans had a mass exodus to become "independent" and their go to party was libertarian..
