Being badly injured is a shit load different to eating 10lb of icecream a day.

Taxes wont go down, but the service should improve.
You have kids who cant have an op because it costs $100k, then they have to spend $40k knocking down a wall and getting a crane to lift some 40 stone guy/girl out of their house cause their parents have been feeding them on bargain buckets.
Then because they are so fat, they get disability and the parents get paid as their carer. So just because that one person couldn't say no to cake, they cost $200k a year in benefits and medical costs.

If you're a smackhead, you dont get a carer, and if someone brings you drugs, they are prosecuted.

People are born ginger, they are not born obese.
I guess I just assumed you were angry based on the feel of the thread, but it looks more like you aren't angry at the people in general, but instead you are worried about what they could eventually do to society.

I am mostly worried about the kids. I grew up in an era where we were told to eat all our food and while we might know that too many sweets were bad for you, we ate terribly (greasy meat with bread and potatoes as an example) and it was considered a balanced diet. It was the 1970's and few people knew better. Now the information is readily available so anyone can easily find out how to eat a more healthy diet.

That all said, it is mental thing. Being very overweight is not really any different than being a drunk or a drug addict and a person needs to figure that out before they can lose weight. What amazes me is when you see overweight parents with overweight kids. The parents have to know what their lives are like being overweight and you would think they wouldn't want that for their kids, but it seems like many of them just don't care.
